Hey Hey! We can't wait to introduce you to artist Janelle Quibuyen! So let's get to it!

Q: What inspires you about Bremerton?
A: I grew up in Bremerton by way of Hawaii and the Philippines and was honestly completely uninspired by Bremerton. But times have changed and so have I, and I come back to this place now with renewed appreciation and gratitude. I love the natural scenery of Bremerton, my family, my persistent nostalgia and seeing old places in new ways. And of course, this amazing intersection of community with so many hard working people.

Q: What is your favorite local spot?
A: I can’t choose just one. But I will name @saboteurbakery, @cafe_kai, @houndandbottle, and @woodworktattoo, and that one teriyaki spot that serves Filipino food. Oh and the Manette Bridge. I won’t tell you why, you just have to go find out for yourself :)

Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: I am always inspired by my immigrant family and their resiliency—which is just one tiny story of the many in this world who have been colonized, marginalized, and disenfranchised. I root for the underdogs everywhere.

Q: Where can we find more of your art?
A: Find me at @phatlip!
