We are excited to introduce you to local artist Megan Biffert, the artist behind @heythere.chickadee 🐦

Q: What inspires you about Bremerton?

A: Bremerton (and Kitsap in general) is that perfect mix of small cities interspersed between areas of woods and water. You are never far from either, and I'm inspired by the details of nature as well as urban areas.

Q: What drew you to your medium?

A: I like the mix of controlled ink lines and free-flowing watercolor. There's a fun contrast of orderliness and expression!

Q: What is your favorite local spot?

A: I love walking the bridge loop. That's not exactly a "spot", but I walk or jog that loop quite frequently!

Q: Where do you find inspiration?

A: I'm inspired by many of the things that are "everyday" and ordinary, but hold a lot of beauty if I pause to really look and take them in. So it can range from a flower in my garden to grand architectural details on a cathedral to the shape of a lip balm tube. I'm sometimes surprised by what I want to stop and sketch. Most recently I've been itching to sketch the miscellaneous objects in my kitchen that I use everyday.

Q: What does your perfect First Friday look like?

A: Not raining, getting something tasty to sip while I walk, running into old friends and having conversations with new ones. And maybe stumbling onto a live demo I didn't know about. I love the community aspect of First Fridays!

Q: Where can we find more of your art?

A: The majority of my work gets posted @heythere.chickadee, and details about my work are on my website heytherechickadee.com
